Three Weeks in Europe with Carry-Ons

Europe, with its rich history, diverse cultures, and stunning landscapes, has always been on my travel bucket list. And when the opportunity arose to spend three weeks exploring this continent, I knew I had to make the most of it. But with airlines often charging high fees for checked luggage, I decided to challenge myself to travel with just carry-ons. In this blog post, I’ll share my packing strategy, tips, and the adventures I had while traveling light through Europe.

The Packing Strategy:

  1. Plan Ahead: Before packing, I researched the weather conditions and activities planned for each destination. This helped me determine the essentials and pack accordingly.
  2. Lightweight and Versatile Clothing: I packed a mix of layers, including tops, pants, and dresses that could be easily mixed and matched. I chose fabrics that were wrinkle-resistant and could be hand-washed in the hotel sink.
  3. Compact Footwear: Instead of bulky sneakers or sandals, I opted for a pair of comfortable flats that could be dressed up or down.
  4. Multi-Purpose Items: To save space, I brought items that had multiple uses, such as a scarf that could double as a blanket or a sarong.
  5. Travel-sized Toiletries: I packed miniature versions of my toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, and sunscreen. I also relied on solid bars of soap and moisturizer to save even more space.

My Adventures:

  1. Amsterdam: In the charming city of Amsterdam, I explored the canals, visited museums, and enjoyed the bike-friendly氛围. My carry-on allowed me to move around easily, even on crowded streets and canal boats.
  2. Barcelona: Barcelona’s architecture, beaches, and cuisine stole my heart. I walked along the Las Ramblas, admired the Sagrada Família, and indulged in delicious tapas. My light luggage made it convenient to navigate the city’s narrow streets and crowded markets.
  3. Paris: Paris is a city of romance and art. I visited the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and strolled along the Seine River. Carrying my bag on the metro and up the Eiffel Tower’s stairs was a breeze.
  4. Rome: Rome‘s ancient ruins, Vatican City, and delicious pasta made my trip unforgettable. With my carry-on, I was able to navigate the cobblestone streets and explore the Colosseum without being weighed down.

Conclusion:

Traveling with carry-ons for three weeks in Europe was a liberating and rewarding experience. It taught me the importance of packing smart, being organized, andrioritizing the essentials. By following my packing strategy and embracing the challenges, I was able to enjoy my adventures to the fullest. So, if you’re planning a trip to Europe or any other destination, I encourage you to give carry-on travel a try. It’s a great way to simplify your journey and focus on making memories. Happy travels!
